How do I use Convo Access (QR Codes)
Convo Access gives Deaf people direct access to a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter when visiting participating organisations.
If you would like to know where to find Convo Access, follow the steps below.
Step 1: Check if the organisation offers Convo Access
You can search our website to see which Partners (organisations) currently provide Convo Access:
convo.io/map
The map shows organisations across multiple countries that offer Convo Access. Simply zoom into the country or area you would like to search and select a location to view further details.
If the organisation is listed on the map, Convo Access should be available at that location.
Step 2: Ask a member of staff
If you are visiting a location that offers Convo Access, ask a member of staff where the Convo Access QR code is displayed.
The QR code may be located at:
- Customer service desks
- Information points/desks
- Reception
- Accessibility Support areas
Some organisations display the QR code in multiple locations, while others may have one central access point.
Step 3: If staff are unsure
Occasionally, the staff member you speak to may not be familiar with Convo Access or may not know where the QR code is located.
You can show them the message below:
I am Deaf and would like to use Convo Access.
Your organisation provides access to a British Sign Language interpreter through Convo Access.
Please direct me to the Convo Access QR code or the correct member of staff.
Thank you.
If needed, ask the staff member to contact their manager, reception team, or information desk for further information.
Step 4: Scan the QR code
Once you have located the Convo Access QR code:
- Open your phone camera.
- Scan the QR code.
- Follow the link.
- Connect to a BSL interpreter.
- Begin your conversation with the organisation.
